Accuplacer - Reading Comprehension - F.A.Q.What are the ACCUPLACER fees?
Fees for ACCUPLACER tests are:
- $10.00 for Essay (TXWrite Placer)
- $5.00 each for Elementary Algebra, Reading Comprehension, and Sentence Skills
- $7.00 each for College Level Math, Arithmetic, and LOEP tests.
The registration fee is non-refundable and payable to University of Houston at the time of registration by credit card, cash, check or money order (currently enrolled UH students will be billed).
Will I be able to see my scores after the exam?
YES. A score report will be generated on-site when you complete the test.
What are the minimum passing scores for the ACCUPLACER as requirement for the TSI (Texas Success Initiatives)?
The minimum passing scores for each of these tests are set by the state; each institution may establish its own score requirements at or above these minimums. The minimum passing scores are:
ACCUPLACER: - reading comprehension = 78
- elementary algebra = 63
- sentence skills (objective) = 80
- essay = 6
(The minimum passing standard for the written essay portion of these tests is a score of 6. However, an essay with a score of 5 will pass if the student meets the objective writing test standard.)
What is ACCUPLACER?
ACCUPLACER is a computerized assessment test that will provide the college with information about your current level of skill in reading, writing and mathematics. This information is used to help you and your advisor or counselor put together a schedule of classes.
How do I schedule an appointment to take the Accuplacer?
You may register online for the ACCUPLACER test at www.las.uh.edu/uts or come by the University Testing Services located in room 204 of the Student Service Center 1. You must register at least 48 hours before the schedule test time and day. All registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
